Manchester City's plans to increase Etihad capacity to 62,000 approved

Manchester City's plans to increase the Etihad Stadium's capacity to around 62,000 is given the green light by the local council.

Manchester City's plans to expand the Etihad Stadium to over 62,000 capacity have been approved by the local council.

The former Premier League champions are said to have submitted their proposal to the relevant body this month.

According to Sky Sports News, the scheme has been given the green light, which means that City have permission to build on both the South and North stands in the ground.

City's home ground will become the second largest stadium in the top flight, behind Manchester United's Old Trafford base.
