Report: Liverpool block Xherdan Shaqiri exit amid Roma interest

Xherdan Shaqiri will remain at Liverpool until the end of the season despite interest from Serie A side Roma, according to a report.

Liverpool have reportedly informed Xherdan Shaqiri that he will not be allowed to leave the club this month.

The Switzerland international sat out Sunday's league win over Manchester United with a calf injury and has been used just nine times in all competitions this season.

Roma are rumoured to have approached Liverpool over a possible loan move for the 28-year-old, but Sky Sports News claims that the Reds are unwilling to to let him leave.

Shaqiri is instead expected to remain a squad player at Anfield until the end of the campaign, at which point his future will be reevaluated.

Roma may now move for former Liverpool winger Suso, who has been at Serie A rivals AC Milan since 2015.
