El-Hadji Diouf: 'Steven Gerrard was jealous of me'

Former Liverpool striker El-Hadji Diouf claims that Steven Gerrard was jealous of him when they were teammates at Anfield.

Former Liverpool striker El-Hadji Diouf has claimed that Steven Gerrard was jealous of him during their time at the club together.

Gerrard recently hit out at the Senegalese striker in his autobiography, stating that Diouf wasted his talents and was one of the worst teammates that he had at Anfield.

Diouf, who joined Liverpool from Lens in 2002 has hit back at Gerrard following his comments.

"What I have done in football, he did not. When I came to Liverpool, I came up with the status of boss and he lives there," Diouf told Senegalese radio station Radio Future Media.

"I am respected in world football, the greatest football experts have appointed me among the seven best players in the World Cup, the top 100 players of the century.

"Several big players do not belong. Everywhere I go out of my country, they worship me."

Diouf scored six goals in 80 games Liverpool before leaving for Bolton Wanderers in 2005.
