Mohamed Salah's record vs. Watford

Sports Mole takes a closer look at Mohamed Salah's record against Watford ahead of Liverpool's clash with the Hornets on Saturday.

Liverpool will aim to keep the pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea when they travel to Watford for Saturday lunchtime's kickoff.

One man in particular will aim to keep his hot streak against the Hornets going, as Mohamed Salah - a man in inspired form this season - boasts quite the record in this fixture.

Ahead of Saturday's early kickoff, Sports Mole takes a closer look at Salah's record against the Hornets.

The Liverpool man first witnessed one of his clubs take on Watford in the 2014-15 FA Cup, as he was an unused substitute for Chelsea in a comfortable 3-0 third-round success.

Salah has previously faced Watford six times in his career, which includes his debut for Liverpool in August 2017, during which he claimed his first Reds goal and assist in a pulsating 3-3 draw.

Later that season, Salah would single-handedly win the day for the Reds against Watford in a 5-0 Anfield thrashing, during which he scored four goals and set up another for his first hat-trick in the Premier League.

The 2018-19 campaign was less memorable for Salah against the Hornets, as while he did net his side's opening goal in a 3-0 win at Vicarage Road, he did not contribute to any goals during a 5-0 Anfield romping, despite playing the full 90 minutes.

Salah would proceed to make his presence felt against Watford during their first meeting of the 2019-20 season, banking both of his side's goals in a 2-0 win before that infamous encounter at Vicarage Road.

Despite playing the full 90 minutes, Salah was overshadowed by his opposite number Ismaila Sarr in February 2020, as the Egyptian - and the rest of the Liverpool squad - failed to live up to their high standards during a dampening 3-0 defeat.

However, four wins, one draw and one defeat from six games against Watford is still a respectable record, while eight goals and two assists in that run is a remarkable return.

As well as his individual record in this fixture, another slice of personal history is on the line for Salah this weekend, as he could score for the eighth game in a row for the first time in his career in the top five European leagues.
