Rio Mavuba welcomes Premier League link

Lille captain Rio Mavuba reveals that he would like to play abroad again before his career ends, with his preference for a move to London.

Lille captain Rio Mavuba has revealed that he would welcome the chance to play in the Premier League next season, picking out London as his ideal destination should the opportunity become available.

Mavuba joined Lille in 2008 and has since become a firm favourite with the Ligue 1 side, helping them win their first title for more than half a century in 2011.

He told L'Equipe: "I'd like to play abroad again after my experience with Villarreal. I am 29 years old and have two children. I think that London would be the ideal [location].

"I would be tempted to move to England or Spain rather than Germany or Italy, but I have a contract with Lille until 2015, so I want to have a great season and then we can discuss a possible renewal."

Mavuba has been ever-present for Lille so far this season, helping Les Dogues climb to third in Ligue 1 after nine matches.
