Marcelo Bielsa "dreaming about" promotion with Leeds United

Marcelo Bielsa explains his reasoning behind dropping into the second tier of English football with Leeds United at his Elland Road unveiling.

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that it is "impossible not to be dreaming about" promotion to the Premier League with his new side.

The Whites pulled off a major coup earlier this month by persuading the 62-year-old to succeed Paul Heckingbottom in the Elland Road dugout.

Bielsa boasts experience of managing the likes of Argentina and Chile, and most recently Marseille and Lille at club level, with Pep Guardiola among those to hail the Argentine coach as the best in the business.

Speaking at his first press conference as Leeds boss on Monday, Bielsa insisted that the opportunity was too big to reject.

"I was convinced by the strength by Leeds both on and off the field," he told reporters. "I looked at things from a sport and football point of view.

"It's imprudent to promise something when you cannot be certain over things. At the same time it would be impossible not to be dreaming about it."

Leeds finished 13th in the Championship last season after failing to push on from a positive start.
