Mick McCarthy praises "confident" Ipswich Town

Mick McCarthy praises Ipswich Town for their "confident" performance in the victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Mick McCarthy has revealed his delight with Ipswich Town's performance in the 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday evening.

A Daryl Murphy brace helped Ipswich climb into the playoff spots, and McCarthy, who celebrated his 100th game in charge of the club, was keen to praise his players.

"It was a fabulous performance and Daryl Murphy has been great. I was delighted, we played well and I think we deserved the win - it is better still when you deserve the win," the Ipswich boss told reporters.

"It was a confident performance and one of our better ones this season. We didn't let Wolves play. They are a good team who play some good football but we didn't allow them to.

"It was a really good competitive Championship game with some quality between two sides near the top of the league."

Ipswich return to action against Watford on Saturday.
