Marcus Rashford picks up 'knock' in England training

England boss Gareth Southgate says that Marcus Rashford picked up 'a knock' during the team's final training session before leaving for Russia for the World Cup.

England boss Gareth Southgate has revealed that Marcus Rashford has sustained an injury to his knee.

Rashford impressed during last week's 2-0 victory over Costa Rica, netting with a 25-yard strike during the first half of the friendly at Elland Road.

However, the Manchester United forward appears to be a doubt for England's World Cup opener with Tunisia next Monday after picking up 'a knock' during a game between members of the squad at the start of this week.

England touched down in Russia on Tuesday and upon their arrival, Southgate revealed that the 20-year-old had an issue with his knee and is currently being assessed by the Three Lions medical staff.

If fit, Rashford is in contention for a starting role in Volgograd next week, but Southgate is unlikely to take any risks with the fitness of the attacker.
