Steven Gerrard is cleared of medial knee ligament damage ahead of potentially winning his 100th England cap against Sweden.

Steven Gerrard is poised to win his 100th England cap against Sweden on Wednesday after passing a precautionary scan on his knee.

The Three Lions skipper, who made his international debut against Ukraine in 2000, has been cleared of medial ligament damage and will travel to Stockholm with the rest of the squad.

A statement from the Football Association read: "Steven Gerrard has been cleared to travel with the England squad to Sweden having undergone a precautionary scan on Monday afternoon.

"The England captain reported to the team hotel following Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Chelsea and, having received positive news, is set to win his 100th cap against Sweden on Wednesday evening in Stockholm."

Bobby Moore, Peter Shilton, David Beckham, Bobby Charlton and Billy Wright are the only other five players to have reached a century of England appearances.
