Dallas ease to win over New England Revolution

Goals from Andres Escobar and Tesho Akindele guide Dallas to a comfortable 2-0 win over the New England Revolution in their MLS clash.

Dallas extended their unbeaten run to four matches as they defeated the New England Revolution 2-0 in their MLS clash.

The home side started strongly and were only prevented from going ahead in the 18th minute by a good stop from Bobby Shuttleworth to deny Andres Escobar from the edge of the area.

Escobar did fire his side into the lead 11 minutes later as he ran past two defenders down the left and fired the ball high past Shuttleworth at his near post, seconds after Blas Perez had hit the bar.

Dallas were dominating the game and should have gone two goals in front as Perez raided down the left and cut the ball back to Je-Vaughn Watson, but he lost his composure and blasted his shot wide.

After the break, the Revolution tried to find an equaliser and Lee Nguyen went close as he played a neat one-two with Teal Bunbury, but his shot went just over the bar.

Shuttleworth kept New England in the game with a good stop to deny Escobar his second goal of the night as he tipped the ball over the bar from the midfielder's 20-yard effort.

The keeper made a better save just past the hour mark to prevent Tesho Akindele from finding the net as he managed to re-adjust his feet and leap back to his right to tip the forward's curling shot over.

New England made a late press to get an equaliser but Kelyn Rowe and Steven Neumann both saw their shots well saved by Raul Fernandez, and that allowed Akindele to seal his side's win by netting Dallas's second on a counter attack.
