Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has insisted that the club's pursuit of Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez is "no joke".
The Italian giants have publicly declared their interest in the want-away Argentine, but some reports have suggested they are just trying to unsettle rivals AC Milan, who are currently in talks with City over a potential move.
However, Moratti insists that Inter's interest in Tevez is genuine and they have been in contact with City regarding the forward's situation.
"Our interest in Tevez is real, it is not a joke. We think it might be a good operation," Moratti told fcinternews.it..
"We tried to get information [from City] to understand how things were, if there was room or not [for us], then we'll see if we can take him or not.
"It is not a matter of being optimistic or pessimistic, but just wait and see what happens."
Tevez has not played for the Premier League leaders since allegedly refusing to come on as a substitute during their Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich.
