Goals from Mario Angel Paglialunga and Gonzalo Bergessio help Catania come from behind to defeat Sampdoria at the Stadio Angelo Massimino.

Catania staged a second-half comeback to defeat Sampdoria and go eighth in Serie A this afternoon.

The visitors were given the chance to take the lead in the 29th minute when Nicola Leggrottaglie was adjudged to have felled Emmanuel Icardi inside the area.

Enzo Maresca stepped up to dispatch the spot kick.

The score remained the same until half time, but the hosts were soon on level terms after the break.

Mario Angel Paglialunga found the bottom corner with a strike from outside the box, before Gonzalo Bergessio completed the turnaround in the 65th minute.
