Javier Mascherano praises Sergi Roberto contribution

Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano pays tribute to Sergi Roberto, who scored the Catalan side's equaliser in Tuesday's Champions League win over Bayer Leverkusen.

Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano has praised Sergi Roberto for his part in the Catalan outfit's 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The hosts were trailing 1-0 into the final 10 minutes at Camp Nou, but Roberto equalised in the 80th minute, before Luis Suarez scored a winner two minutes later.

Roberto has been heavily involved for Barca in the early part of the season and Mascherano has said that the youngster has the full confidence of the players.

"We were in a little hole, but the results added up. Football is about moments and moods. We have confidence in [Sergi Roberto], a player who had a great pre-season and had minutes," AS quotes Mascherano as saying.

"That came in handy. And we never doubted his quality or his qualities. This game is 80% mental. Hopefully with his goal he will continue to help us."

Roberto deputised for Dani Alves at right-back in the early part of the campaign.
