Thomas Vermaelen agent denies Napoli link

The agent of Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen refutes speculation linking the defender with a switch to Napoli.

The agent of Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen has moved to refute the speculation linking the defender with a switch to Napoli.

The 28-year-old is believed to have grown disillusioned with life in North London having started just three Premier League games this season.

Reports emerging from Italy recently had suggested that the Partenopei were in talks with the Belgium international over a prospective summer move.

Alex Kroes told Ultime Calcio Napoli: "Are the stories true? What you've read in the newspapers and on the internet is unfounded.

"Things that have been reported are not true, and I say this with full knowledge of the facts. Some outlets are beginning to speculate, but that's all it is – speculation."

Vermaelen is contracted to the Gunners until 2015.
