Arsenal moved up to fourth place in the Premier League table on Saturday with a 3-0 win at home to struggling Burnley.

The Gunners had to wait until the 69th minute to open the scoring as Alexis Sanchez rose highest to head past Tom Heaton.

Arsene Wenger's side doubled their advantage moments later when Calum Chambers prodded home to score his first goal for the club, while the points were sealed late on thanks to another strike from Sanchez.

Hello and welcome to Sports Mole's live text coverage of this afternoon's Premier League encounter between Arsenala and Burnley at the Emirates Stadium. Plenty to play for at both ends of the table today, and we should have some team news for you shortly.

ARSENAL: Szczesny; Chambers, Mertesacker, Monreal, Gibbs; Flamini, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Alexis, Cazorla, Welbeck

ARSENAL SUBS: Martinez, Bellerin, Rosicky, Ramsey, Walcott, Podolski, Sanogo

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has kept the same starting XI that beat Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light last weekend, with Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Welbeck among those who keep their places in the team. However, the bigger news is on the bench where Theo Walcott is named as a substitute. The winger has been out of action for around nine months with a serious injury, be he's back in the squad today.

BURNLEY: Heaton; Ward, Shackell, Duff, Trippier; Boyd, Jones, Marney, Arfield; Ings, Sordell

BURNLEY SUBS: Gilks, Wallace, Mee, Kightly, Jutkiewicz, Chalobah, Keane

Following last weekend's 3-1 defeat at home to Everton, Burnley boss Sean Dyche has made two changes to his starting lineup for this afternoon's encounter. Dean Marney and Marvin Sordell are both given the nod, while Michael Kightly and Lukas Jutkiewicz both drop to the bench.

Arsenal will be keen to pick up a win today in order to maintain their challenge near the top of the Premier League table. The Gunners could move into the Champions League places if they earn the spoils this afternoon. Meanwhile, bottom-placed Burnley are still looking for their first win of the campaign. It's been a very difficult start to the season for the Clarets and it probably won't be getting an easier today.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger on Burnley: "They are better than their points would suggest, that's what the stats show. They have been punished in some games because they couldn't take their chances.

"[Sean Dyche] has done a great job because nobody expected Burnley to be in the Premier League this year. Overall I think his style of play is positive. They create chances if you look at the stats and the consistency of what he has achieved is remarkable."

Burnley defender Stephen Ward: "The games against the top five or six are very tough and going to Arsenal next week nobody will give us a chance. There's always pressure to perform. We want to go out, give it a go, and hopefully cause an upset. You just never know in this league."

UPDATE! Today's early kickoff in the Premier League is 10 minutes from finishing at St James' Park, where Newcastle United are beating Liverpool 1-0 thanks to an Ayoze Perez goal. We'll bring you that full-time result as soon as it's through.

HEAD TO HEAD: As you might expect, it's Arsenal who have the better record when it comes to past meetings between these sides. The Gunners have 40 wins to their name compared to Burnley's 31, while there have also been 20 draws since they first met over 100 years ago.

Burnley's recent record against Arsenal hasn't been that impressive, with just one win in the last eight matches. That was back in December 2009 when they earned a 2-0 victory at Turf Moor in the League Cup. The match was notable for being the first time that an Arsenal side managed by Arsene Wenger was beaten by a lower-league team in a cup competition.

Got a spare few minutes before kickoff? Why not check out our video preview of today's game below:

UPDATE! The full-time whistle has gone at St James' Park and Newcastle United's resurgence has continued with a 1-0 victory over Liverpool. Alan Pardew's side started the season in woeful form, but they've now won their last three matches in the Premier League.

For what it's worth, the last time that Burnley won away at Arsenal was back in September 1974. They're expected to come away from the Emirates Stadium with nothing this afternoon, but manager Sean Dyche will surely be telling his players that anything is possible in this league. We've already seen one or two shocks this season and the Clarets will be looking to add their name to that list today.

Arsene Wenger has already warned his players that they should not underestimate Burnley, and you expect the Gunners to take heed of that warning today. Their season has been a bit stop-start so far, but the North Londoners should have no problems in picking up the points over the course of the next couple of hours. However, Arsenal fans are too long in the tooth to know that it won't always be plain sailing.

Five minutes to go until kickoff and the two sets of players are in the tunnel, ready to go. There is plenty of support for both teams inside the Emirates Stadium on this bright autumn day. Credit in particular to the Burnley supporters, who have done a good job in filling their corner of the ground.

KICKOFF! The teams are out, the pre-match handshakes have been done, and it will be visitors Burnley to get us underway. Here we go!

It's been a commanding start from Arsenal, who are passing the ball around confidently in the Burnley half. The visitors have hardly had a touch since the whistle went, most likely a sign of things to come...

Arsenal continue to dominate possession, but Burnley are doing a good job in keeping their shape. One attack from the hosts sees Chambers and Oxlade-Chamberlain link well down the left, but the flag goes up for offside when Chambers tries to whip a cross into the middle.

Burnley give Arsenal a little warning by breaking with Boyd, who eventually feeds Ings. The striker tries to take a touch before having a crack at goal, but Monreal gets a toe on the ball and eases the danger. Cazorla then sees a tame shot saved by Heaton at the other end.

As you might expect, the passing is all very crisp and incisive from Arsenal. They're spending plenty of time in the Burnley half, with full-backs Gibbs and Chambers pushed high up the pitch. That said, the hosts are still yet to really trouble Heaton in the Burnley goal.

YELLOW CARD! Boyd goes into the book after taking out Cazorla from behind with the Arsenal midfielder looking to surge into the box. Alexis takes the resulting free kick, but it's easily held by Heaton. That was disappointing from the Chile international.

Burnley win their first corner of the game following a rare attack, but Arfield's delivery is a poor one that Szczesny gathers with minimal fuss. The Clarets may have to rely on those kind of opportunities if they want to get at Arsenal.

CHANCE! A decent opening for the hosts sees Oxlade-Chamberlain race down the right before floating a cross in towards Welbeck. However, Trippier is there to head the ball away from the corner. The resulting set-piece causes some confusion inside the penalty area, only for Burnley to eventually clear. That's got some of the fans up on there feet.

It must be said that Sordell is doing an admirable job up front for Burnley this afternoon. He's not had much to work with so far, but his pace and energy are giving the Arsenal defenders lots to think about. A bit more support from the likes of Ings could result in something for the visitors.

That confusion in the Burnley box that I was talking about a few minutes a go: replays show that Arsenal should have had a penalty after Boyd seemed to deliberately handle the ball as a cross was coming in. The Scot is lucky to still be on the pitch considering that he's already been booked.

WHOOSH! It's lovely build-up play from Arsenal, but Welbeck's drive from the edge of the area ends up going way over the crossbar. That kind of sums up the first half so far for the Gunners. They've been playing their usual brand of slick football, only for that finishing touch to be lacking.

The game has entered a bit of a scrappy phase in the last couple of minutes, which will suit Burnley perfectly. Meanwhile, every misplaced pass or loss of possession from an Arsenal player is greeted by groans of desperation from the home fans. Sean Dyche will no doubt be making a note of that.

CHANCE! Arsenal come close to taking the lead as Alexis, out on the left, cut onto his right foot before seeing his powerful drive pushed away by Heaton. A battle for the ball then takes place inside the Burnley box, but the visitors manage to clear.

CHANCE! Alexis again for Arsenal, this time trying to curl the ball into the top corner. It's a fine strike from the summer signing, though his effort ultimately goes the wrong side of the post with Heaton looking well beaten. The Gunners are starting to crank up the pressure.

CHANCE! Alexis yet again comes close to giving Arsenal the lead, but yet again Heaton denies him. Cazorla threads the ball through for the Chilean, who opens his body up in an attempt to curl the ball into the far corner. However, Heaton does well to spread his body and block the shot.

Burnley carve open a half-chance as Boyd turns in the box before hitting a half-volley towards goal. It's a rushed strike from the midfielder and it eventually goes all the way out for a throw.

Just the one minute of added time at the end of the first half...

HALF TIME: ARSENAL 0-0 BURNLEY

It's goalless at the break at the Emirates Stadium, but Arsenal really should be ahead. The Gunners have dominated so far, only for some indifferent finishing and the goalkeeping heroics of Tom Heaton in the Burnley goal keeping the game level.

The Gunners had a whopping 71% of possession during that first half, giving you a good indication of just how on top they've been. Alexis has been the best performer on the pitch so far, with his dynamic runs and eye for goal providing Burnley with plenty to think about.

Arsene Wenger is sure to be telling his players to keep things up for the second half because they've been all over Burnley. If they keep creating chances and keep putting pressure on their opponents, you would think that a goal would come sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile, Sean Dyche is likely to be ordering his team to show a bit more fight in midfield. Arsenal had it their own way for nearly all of the first half, with Burnley doing little to stifle them. If the Clarets can stem the flow in those areas, then they may have a chance at keeping the Gunners at bay and frustrating the crowd.

SECOND HALF UNDERWAY! The teams are back out for the second half and it will be Arsenal who kick us off. No changes from either manager at the break.

Arsenal come flying out of the traps, with Arteta trying his luck from the edge of the area with an effort that sails over the crossbar. With the Spaniard leaning back, that always looked like it was going into the stand.

A heart-stopping moment in the Arsenal defence there as Mertesacker's pass to Szczesny doesn't look to have the legs on it as Ings chases down, but the goalkeeper manages to get there and hoof it away. The visitors are not looking too overwhelmed right now.

Now it's Burnley who are knocking the ball around with plenty of confidence. This is the away side's best spell of the game so far as they go toe to toe with Arsenal. The hosts are still looking more dangerous when it comes to the final third, but Sean Dyche will be pleased with what he's seeing.

Theo Walcott is doing a bit of stretching down on the touchline. Could we be seeing him soon? Arsene Wenger probably doesn't want to bring the winger on with the game still goalless, but he might not have a choice soon if the score remains the same. The Arsenal fans are only going to get more and more disgruntled the longer that their team fails to put Burnley to the sword.

Something of a half-chance for the hosts as Oxlade-Chamberlain gets a shot away after Burnley fail to clear their lines from a corner. It's not a bad strike from the England international, though Heaton is equal to it in the end.

CHANCE! Oxlade-Chamberlain tries his luck again, this time with a more ferocious drive that takes a nick off a defender before going out for a corner. The resulting set piece is put into a threatening area, though Burnley live to fight another day.

ARSENAL SUB: A first change of the afternoon for the hosts sees Aaron Ramsey replace captain Mikel Arteta. The Gunners have built up a head of steam in the last few minutes, piling the pressure on Burnley.

CHANCE! What a glorious opportunity for Arsenal to take the lead! A good run from Chambers down the right sees the defender square for Cazorla. The Spaniard has all the time in the world to slot into the net, but Duff slides in to make an incredible block on the line.

BURNLEY SUB: The visitors also make a change now, with Lukas Jutkiewicz replacing Marvin Sordell, who has been one of Burnley's brightest sparks this afternoon.

GOAL! ARSENAL 1-0 BURNLEY (ALEXIS)

Alexis has been the best player on the pitch this afternoon and he's now found the net to give Arsenal the lead. Chambers floats a cross from the right into the box, allowing Alexis to jump high above everyone else to power a low header past Heaton. You can feel the relief at the Emirates Stadium.

GOAL! ARSENAL 2-0 BURNLEY (CHAMBERS)

And that should be that! Arsenal double their advantage inside a couple of minutes thanks to an opportunistic finish from Calum Chambers, his first goal for the club. Welbeck's initial effort from a corner is blocked inside a crowded penalty area, but Chambers is there to prod home.

The mood inside the Emirates Stadium is now markedly different to how it was 10 minutes ago. The Gunners create another chance as Ramsey is teed up from about 25 yards, though he can only smash a reckless drive high into the stand behind the goal.

SUBSTITUTIONS: Changes for both teams now as Nathaniel Chalobah replaces Dean Marney for Burnley. However, the big news is that Theo Walcott is back on a pitch in Arsenal colours. The winger is joined by Lukas Podolski in replacing Danny Welbeck and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Ings gives Arsenal something to think about with a 25-yard effort that is held by Szczesny. It's hard to remember when Burnley last threatened the Arsenal goal before that. It's been pretty much one-way traffic in this half, with Arsenal dominating throughout.

SAVE! Oh, what a stop from Heaton to deny Podolski! The German meets a corner from the left on the volley, but Heaton keeps the ball out of the net with a superb point-blank save. He's played really well in between the sticks this afternoon.

OFF THE POST! Podolski again! This time he meets Walcott's cross from the right with a ferocious volley that rattles the frame of the goal before Burnley clear. The Gunners are all over the visitors at the moment.

SAVE! Heaton makes another fine stop to keep the score down, this time denying Ramsey. The Welsh midfielder composes himself before trying to find the top corner with a good drive, but Heaton stretches himself to push the ball away.

GOAL! ARSENAL 3-0 BURNLEY (ALEXIS)

Alexis Sanchez caps a fine performance by grabbing his second goal of the game to seal the points for Arsenal. Gibbs does well down the left, whipping in a dangerous cross right into the heart of the Burnley box, and there's the Chilean to bundle the ball home from close range. There will be three minutes of added time.

FULL TIME: ARSENAL 3-0 BURNLEY

It wasn't always smooth sailing for Arsenal, but they've beaten Burnley 3-0 to make it two consecutive wins in the Premier League. Alexis Sanchez scored twice for the Gunners, with Calum Chambers getting the other. Meanwhile, Burnley's misery at the bottom of the table continues.

That's all from our live text coverage of today's match, but don't forget that you can keep up to date with all of the reaction from both camps right here on Sports Mole. Thanks for your company, we hope to see you again soon. Goodbye!
