Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon has slammed rumours suggesting that manager Tim Sherwood punched one of his players following his side's 4-0 defeat to Liverpool this afternoon.

Sherwood was reportedly furious with his side falling to another heavy defeat at the hands of a top four team, keeping his players in the Anfield dressing room for an hour after the match.

Rumours began to circulate on Twitter that Sherwood had been involved in a physical altercation with one of the players, with some reports even suggesting that he had been sacked, but Lennon moved to quash the speculation while also admitting that the team's performance "was not good enough".

Tottenham have picked up just one point from a possible 24 against the top four this season, scoring two goals and conceding 27 in their eight matches.
