Joaquin scores late Fiorentina winner against 10-man Napoli

Fiorentina close to within seven points of third-placed Napoli in Serie A thanks to a late winner from Joaquin at the Stadio San Paolo.

Fiorentina earned a huge win to keep alive their hopes of a top-three Serie A finish by overcoming 10-man Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo this evening.

In the first half Napoli had the best chances as Gonzalo Higuain and Marek Hamsik went close before their chances of victory took a serious hit when Faouzi Ghoulam was sent off in the 37th minute for serious foul play.

The visitors then had the best of the chances but looked like they might have to settle for a draw until the 87th minute.

Half-time subsitute Josip Ilicic crossed into the box, where Joaquin headed past Pepe Reina to win the game.

Napoli's six-game unbeaten run in the league comes to an end and now Fiorentina are just seven points behind Rafael Benitez's men in fourth.
