Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appears to rule out a new centre-back arriving at Old Trafford this summer.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seemingly ruled out a new centre-back arriving at Old Trafford before the end of this summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils have struggled defensively in the early stages of the 2020-21 campaign, with Victor Lindelof's form largely criticised, while Harry Maguire has also found it difficult to show his best form.

United have allegedly considered improving in that area of the field this summer by making a signing, but Solskjaer has insisted that he has "enough good centre-backs".

"We've got many defenders here and I put Eric [Bailly] on to bolster the defence, following the runs of [Leandro] Trossard and [Neal] Maupay," the Red Devils boss told reporters after Saturday's 3-2 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

"For me, we've got enough good centre-backs here at the moment. When you concede chances and concede goals, there are two different things you can look at - it's either the team shape, or are there any individual mistakes.

"We're not in our best shape of form, our shape isn't there, we're not sharp enough to stop crosses or follow the runs. We're a little bit behind, that's more structural mistakes than individual mistakes. I thought Victor did well today."

The 20-time English champions continue to be linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho ahead of the closing of the summer window on October 5.
