Manchester United reportedly showed a lack of interest in meeting an asking price for Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino before appointing Ralf Rangnick.

Manchester United reportedly showed an unwillingness to pay a lucrative sum for the services of Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino.

On Monday, United announced that Ralf Rangnick had been appointed as the club's interim manager on a deal until the end of the season.

However, before that decision was made, the Premier League giants were heavily linked with Pochettino, who was said to be open to a switch to Old Trafford.

According to Telefoot, any deal would have only come to fruition if two demands were met, one of them being that United pay at least £12.79m (€15m) in compensation.

As well as United not being prepared to meet that figure, PSG also wanted to find a replacement before giving Pochettino the green light to depart Parc des Princes.

Nothing materialised on that front either, subsequently resulting in United shelving their interest until at least the summer.
