Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah is still holding out for a £400k-a-week deal to extend his stay at Anfield, according to a report.

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah is reportedly refusing to budge over his demands for a new deal on Merseyside.

The former Chelsea man has entered the final 18 months of his existing contract at Anfield, with long-running talks over an extension yet to lead to a positive solution.

Salah has insisted that he is not making "crazy" demands when it comes to a new deal, and the 29-year-old is keen to extend his stay with the Reds.

However, The Mirror claims that Salah is still holding out for a £400k-a-week deal at Liverpool, who are reluctant to pay up due to their strict wage structure under the Fenway Sports Group's ownership.

The report also states that Ramy Abbas Issa - Salah's agent - is pointing out Cristiano Ronaldo's £500k-a-week wages and Kevin De Bruyne's £400k salary when it comes to talks over a new contract with the Liverpool man.

Salah bagged the winner for Egypt in their 1-0 Africa Cup of Nations win against Guinea-Bissau on Saturday and has 23 strikes to his name from 26 appearances for Liverpool this season.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has affirmed that he is still optimistic over the club's chances of tying Salah down to fresh terms.
