Liverpool reportedly hold an interest in signing PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare before the end of the summer transfer window.
The situation in Liverpool's engine room has been well documented in recent months, Jurgen Klopp seeing as many as five players in that area of the pitch depart for pastures new.
While the three exits on free transfers were planned, losing Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to Saudi Arabian clubs only materialised through the players in question pushing for the transfers.
As a result, Alexis Mac Allister has been deputising as the most defensive member of a three to mixed effect, Liverpool eventually being over-run by Chelsea during their 1-1 draw on Sunday.
Liverpool had hoped to sign at least one of Brighton & Hove Albion's Moises Caicedo or Southampton's Romeo Lavia, only for both players to seemingly be on the way to Chelsea.

Klopp and the owners of the Merseyside giants are now under pressure to identify alternatives having arguably been fortunate to avoid losing their opening top-flight fixture at Stamford Bridge.
According to ESPN, Sangare is a player that could receive an offer from Liverpool over the coming weeks.
Speaking on Good Morning Eredivisie, Kiki Musampa, the brother of the player's agent, indicated that a number of big clubs are monitoring the situation as they bid to improve their respective midfield ranks.
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are allegedly prepared to compete with Liverpool in the race to secure Sangare's signature.

The Ivory Coast international has developed into a key player at PSV, contributing 14 goals and 10 assists from his 136 appearances in all competitions.
PSV would ideally like to retain the services of the 25-year-old, yet there is said to be a €37m (£31.9m) release clause in his contract, which runs until 2027.
With Liverpool having recently made it clear that they would have paid £110m for Caicedo, signing Sangare is theoretically well within their capabilities.
Sangare played the full 90 minutes at the weekend as PSV opened their Eredivisie campaign with a 2-0 victory over FC Utrecht.
