Pep Guardiola wants Bayern Munich improvement

Pep Guardiola warns Bayern's Champions League rivals that his side won't rest on their laurels after thrashing Roma 7-1 and targets further improvement.

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has warned Europe's elite that his side can still improve - even after beating Roma 7-1 at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Bavarians flashed their Champions League credentials in ruthless fashion by demolishing the Italians on their own turf last night.

Despite scoring five times in the opening 36 minutes in the Italian capital, Guardiola insists that there is still room for improvement.

"There are no good tactics without good players. This club has great presidents, great people and great players. It is about getting the best out of them," he told Sky Germany.

"There are always little things you can improve, however. This was no normal situation, but you always have to keep going.

"It was a great first half, the last 10 minutes were fantastic. The second half was quieter. Roma are usually a great team, but we were very aggressive."

First-half goals from Arjen Robben (2), Mario Gotze, Robert Lewandowski and a Thomas Muller penalty stunned the home supporters.

Gervinho added a consolation on 66 minutes, before Franck Ribery and Xherdan Shaqiri added further gloss to the scoreline.

The Bavarians, who won the competition under Jupp Heynckes in 2013, sit top of Group E on nine points, seven clear of third-placed Manchester City and five ahead of Roma in second.
