Philipp Kohlschreiber beats Jurgen Melzer to reach Barcelona Open quarters

Philipp Kohlschreiber moves into the quarter-finals of the Barcelona Open with a straight-sets win over Jurgen Melzer.

Philipp Kohlschreiber has booked his place in the final eight of the Barcelona Open by clinching a 7-5 6-3 victory over Jurgen Melzer.

The 10th seed clinched the one and only break point of the first set, as Melzer struggled to break down his opponent on the court.

After grabbing the lead in Spain, Kohlschreiber was able to capitalise once again with a break point, while Melzer squandered three points of his own in the second set.

Despite his attempts to get himself back in contention, Melzer was forced to relinquish a place in the quarter-finals as Kohlschreiber broke his opponent yet again to win.
