Roger Federer to miss Paris Masters

Roger Federer confirms that he will miss next week's Paris Masters in order to rest before the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Roger Federer has confirmed that he will miss next week's Paris Masters as he looks to get some rest before the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

The Swiss world number one was speaking after his 4-6 7-6 6-7 defeat to Juan Martin del Potro in the final of the Swiss Open on Sunday.

"It's just too much, I was trying to make up my mind and I had some little niggling stuff I didn't want to take a chance on," the 31-year-old told reporters.

"I feel very disappointed. I had one of the best weeks of my life there last year, but this is just a last-minute decision."

Federer, who won last year's tournament, will be replaced in the French capital by Romanian world number 58 Victor Hanescu.
