Leigh Halfpenny to miss Rugby World Cup for Wales

Leigh Halfpenny will miss the 2015 Rugby World Cup for Wales after tests confirmed that the full-back has ruptured his anterior cruciate knee ligaments.

Leigh Halfpenny will miss the 2015 Rugby World Cup with the injury picked up in Saturday's 23-19 victory over Italy.

Halfpenny left the pitch on a stretcher in the latter part of the game and recent tests have confirmed that the full-back has ruptured his anterior cruciate knee ligaments.

Wales are yet to confirm whether or not Rhys Webb will miss the tournament after the scrum-half also left the field with an injury on Saturday.

Former Wales international Shane Williams has suggested that Halfpenny should have been rested for the final warm-up match.
