Manuel Pellegrini insists that West Ham United "are improving" in every game despite falling to their third Premier League defeat in a row en route to the foot of the table.

Manuel Pellegrini has claimed that West Ham United "are improving" in every game despite falling to their third Premier League defeat in a row.

The Hammers took the lead against Arsenal on Saturday but were quickly pegged back through Nacho Monreal before Issa Diop's own goal and Danny Welbeck's late strike condemned them to another loss.

"We created a lot of chances and I was very happy in the way we played," Pellegrini told BBC Sport after the 3-1 defeat. "We dominated parts of the game and were unlucky with the own goal.

"We improved on what we did in our two first games. We need to add points, but we are going to continue searching.

"Unfortunately we had two injuries with [Marko] Arnautovic and (Michail) Antonio playing very well. The style, we need to continue doing with more trust than ever after losing this game. In every game we are improving."

West Ham sit bottom of the Premier League table on zero points and return to league action against Wolverhampton Wanderers next weekend.
