West Bromwich Albion midfielder Craig Gardner has revealed that he is aware of the local importance surrounding the Baggies' FA Cup clash with Birmingham City.
The two West Midlands club meet in the fourth round on Saturday, and Gardner, who supported Birmingham growing up and has previously played for the Championship outfit, has acknowledged that there is plenty of pride on the line for both sets of supporters.
The 28-year-old told TheFA.com: "Obviously, Birmingham City is extra special for me.
"I was there as a player and I'm a Blues fan, so I know about the bragging rights on the streets and the kids going to school and the adults go to work and it's just big for the area - I can't wait.
"Gary Rowett has come in and he was a fantastic player for the club, he knows what the Birmingham City fans want and the passion and belief that they've got. They are doing so well in the league now."
Gardner made 52 appearances for Birmingham before departing the club in 2011.
