Valencia's Ever Banega: 'It has been a difficult start'

Valencia captain Ever Banega hopes that the club can recover from their poor start to the season.

Valencia captain Ever Banega has admitted that "it is a difficult time" for the club after a poor start to the season.

The former Spanish champions have lost three of their first four La Liga games this season, with their most recent defeat coming against Real Betis at the weekend.

"It is a difficult time for us. To start the league in this way is not normal. We are the first that want to reverse the situation. The other day we went wrong in everything. There was a lack of attitude and self-esteem. It was a disaster," he told reporters at a press conference.

"We conceded three goals very quickly. But we have to continue. We have the game on Thursday and we have to start winning in order to gain confidence."

Valencia face Swansea City in the Europa League on Thursday.
