Team GB coach Stuart Pearce expresses his delight at his side's 1-0 win over Uruguay, also describing the match as a "knockout" contest.

Team GB coach Stuart Pearce was "delighted" with his side's narrow victory over Uruguay in Cardiff tonight.

A goal from Daniel Sturridge in first-half stoppage time was enough to send Great Britain into the last eight as Group A winners.

"It was situation where it was effectively them or us, it was a knockout," Pearce told BBC Sport.

"Overall I am delighted, we beat a very good Uruguay side 1-0. We have to check everyone is okay and prepare them for the next game."

GB will now return to the Millennium Stadium on Saturday to face South Korea in the quarter-finals.
