Great Britain manager Stuart Pearce admits that the team's appearance in the Olympic football tournament is unlikely to be repeated.

Great Britain manager Stuart Pearce has admitted that the team's appearance in the football tournament at the Olympic Games is unlikely to happen again.

Pearce was left disappointed as Team GB were eliminated on penalties by South Korea in the quarter-finals on Saturday at the Millennium Stadium.

He told BBC Sport: "The format of Team GB in the Olympics has been fantastic, but I don't think it will happen again.

"Where will we find the time to enter into a qualification tournament?"

Traditionally the European qualifiers for the Olympics are decided by performance in the European Under-21 Championship, a tournament that the home nations enter in individually.

Both Team GB's football teams were dumped out in the last eight, with Hope Powell's women defeated 2-0 by Canada in Coventry on Friday.
