Sunderland skipper John O'Shea believes that striker Steven Fletcher is crucial to his side's success next season.
Fletcher missed time in the last campaign as he picked up two injuries at the start and at the end of the season, which saw the Scotland international score just three goals for Gus Poyet's side.
"Steven is a massive asset for us," O'Shea told the club's official website.
"We've seen what he does for us when fully fit, scoring goals. He's a fantastic finisher with his left foot and a threat in the air as well.
"Obviously we've got Jozy [Altidore] to come back too, and Connor [Wickham] with the way he finished last season, so hopefully there's plenty to look forward to."
Sunderland open their Premier League campaign against West Bromwich Albion on August 16.
