Tottenham Hotspur's Gylfi Sigurdsson insists that a win over Arsenal would not secure Champions League football for next season.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has told his Tottenham Hotspur teammates that a place in next season's Champions League will not be guaranteed even if they defeat North London rivals Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

Victory at White Hart Lane would move Spurs seven points clear of the Gunners, who currently occupy fifth spot in the Premier League standings.

However, despite the fact that the top four teams in the division qualify for Europe's top competition, Iceland international Sigurdsson has insisted that a win over Arsenal would not be decisive.

"The league was won in the last minute on the last day, so even if we beat them it is not finished," he said.

Sigurdsson scored his first league goal for Spurs during Monday night's 3-2 win away at West Ham United.
