England centre-back Harry Maguire acknowledges the importance of having a fully-fit Harry Kane available in time for the World Cup finals.

Harry Maguire has described England teammate Harry Kane as "probably the best striker in the world", admitting that his side will miss the Tottenham Hotspur ace against the Netherlands.

Kane will sit out Friday evening's friendly at the Amsterdam ArenA, as well as the visit of Italy next week, after damaging his ankle earlier this month.

The 24-year-old is expected to be back in action in around a month's time, though, and Maguire acknowledges the importance of having the Spurs ace in peak form and fitness in time for the World Cup finals.

"When he went down I am sure every England fan, every member of the England staff, every player wanted him to get back up," he told reporters at a pre-match press conference.

"Harry Kane is probably the best striker in the world. He is scoring frequently, getting the Golden Boot in the Premier League last couple of seasons and is up there again.

"I wish him a quick recovery and I hope he comes back firing goals from now until the end of the season and hopefully he will take that form into the World Cup. Hopefully it is good news and it is a speedy recovery."

Kane scored 45 goals in 39 appearances for Tottenham this term prior to limping off in the 4-1 win against Bournemouth.
