Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has hailed Luka Modric for his spell at the club.
The Croat finally completed his long-awaited move to La Liga champions Real Madrid yesterday for a fee believed to be worth in excess of £30m.
Modric was brought to Spurs in 2008 from Dinamo Zagreb and has been one of their best performers in recent years, something for which Levy is thankful.
"Luka has been a terrific player for us and, while we preferred not to part with him, we are pleased that it is to Real Madrid, a club with which we now look forward to sharing a long and productive partnership," said Levy.
Modric scored 17 goals in 160 games for Spurs during his four years at the club, and was voted their player of the year during the 2010-11 season.
