Southampton centre-forward Rickie Lambert feels that he should have scored more goals last season.

Rickie Lambert has insisted that he would like to have contributed even more goals for Southampton during their return campaign to the Premier League.

The 31-year-old finished as the highest English goalscorer in the top flight with 15 strikes to his name.

However, the centre-forward only described that return as "okay" and claimed that he could have helped his team out a little bit more.

"It's nice but I believe I could have finished on more and I wanted to finish on more," Lambert told the Daily Echo. "I guess 15 is okay but I wish I could have helped my team a bit more but we've done well."

Lambert scored the equaliser as the Saints drew 1-1 with Stoke City on the final day of the season yesterday afternoon.
