Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos has said that he believes Jose Mourinho is a better coach than Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola.
The Brazilian, currently plying his trade at Anzhi Makhachkala, praised the Portuguese manager's strength of character and adaptability.
Mourinho has emerged on the winning side just once against Barcelona since taking over at the Bernabeu. However, the 38-year-old full-back maintains that Mourinho's success with clubs in other countries makes him number one.
"Mourinho is still number one - for his character, his style of play, because every team that he has directed has won," Carlos told Marca.
"We'll see if Guardiola can win if he goes to Chelsea or Inter, then we can say who is best.
"He knows a lot about football, but Mourinho's success in all countries where he has been confirms him as the best. Spain has the two best coaches in the world,"
Roberto Carlos recently announced that he will be retiring at the end of the season.
