Martin O'Neill has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant Northern Ireland post.
However, the former Leicester City, Celtic and Aston Villa boss has told the Football Association that he will help them in the search for a new manager.
"To do the Northern Ireland job would be terrific [but] at this minute club management is something that I've been used to for quite some considerable time," said the 59-year-old.
"From that viewpoint, [club management] is something I would want to do at this moment.
"I'm quite sure the IFA would have no problem resolving the situation themselves but I would be prepared to assist them if they thought I could be of help."
O'Neill has been out of work since leaving Villa last year.
