Report: Robin van Persie to make Arsenal return

Robin van Persie could be set for a shock return to Arsenal this summer amid reports that his agent met with Arsene Wenger last month.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could be lining up a shock move for Manchester United striker Robin van Persie after reportedly meeting with the Dutchman's agent.

Van Persie, who swapped the Gunners for United in 2012, fired the Red Devils to the Premier League title in his first season but is believed to have grown disillusioned with life at the club under manager David Moyes.

Consequently, the Netherlands marksman is said to have expressed a desire to return to the Emirates Stadium and, according to Sky Italia, the 30-year-old's representative met with Wenger last month.

Van Persie, whose existing deal at Old Trafford expires in 2016, struck 131 times in his eight-year spell with the North London outfit.
