Wayne Rooney reveals that he is confident Manchester United will respond to the pressure of the title race.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has said that his side will relish the pressure of the Premier League title race.

Sir Alex Ferguson's team are currently three points behind league leaders Manchester City but Rooney is confident that his teammates will hit top form at the right time.

The 26-year-old told the club's website: "We relish this part of the season.

"Once we get into the new year we can see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. Every game is massive and we don't want to be dropping points.

"But I always feel we are at our best around now because we can see the end of the season and that there are trophies there to be won. That's why we stay focused and, more often than, not we're always there at the end."

Manchester United will face Liverpool in their next game in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
