Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta has revealed that he would welcome the chance to play in Italy before his career ends.

Zabaleta made 42 appearances in all competitions for City last season, but is thought to be unsure over his long-term future at Eastlands under new manager Manuel Pellegrini.

With negotiations over a new City deal underway, the Argentine has conceded that a switch to Serie A remains possible, welcoming interest from any of Italy's leading clubs.

He told SportItalia: "Serie A is a major championship. It's certainly a League I'd like to play in.

"A team? I consider Fiorentina to be an interesting team. I have always liked them since the days of Gabriel Batistuta.

"Juventus, Milan and Inter are big clubs though."

The 28-year-old has spent five seasons with City in the Premier League, after making a £6.45m move from Real Zaragoza in 2008.
