Diego Godin hails 'spectacular' Luis Suarez

Diego Godin hails Uruguay teammate Luis Suarez for his Liverpool form this season.

Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin believes that Luis Suarez's 'spectacular' Liverpool form will benefit Uruguay when the pair link up at this summer's World Cup.

Despite missing the first five games through suspension, Suarez has been in scintillating form for the Reds this season topping both the goals and assists charts with 24 and 10 respectively.

The former Ajax forward's displays have been key to the Reds' Premier League title challenge, and Brendan Rodgers's side are currently second in the table.

Speaking to The Mirror, Godin said: "He's playing spectacularly well this year but in general his team is playing well.

"Luis is an impressive player who has a great desire to improve further and keep exceeding himself. The English league is a very competitive league, there are lots of teams fighting for the Champions League and the title and this is healthy.

"I hope he can continue this and have a great World Cup with Uruguay!"

Liverpool travel to Manchester United on March 16.
