Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is reportedly holding talks with Rangers over the managerial position at Ibrox.

Rangers have reportedly opened talks with Steven Gerrard regarding the managerial position at Ibrox.

Since Pedro Caixinha was sacked in October, Graeme Murty has been boss of the Glasgow giants on an interim basis and 18 wins have been recorded from 28 matches.

Rangers also sit in second place in the Scottish Premiership table but according to The Sun, discussions are at an advanced stage over Gerrard replacing Murty in the dugout.

Gerrard is currently in charge of Liverpool Under-18s, but the former skipper of the Merseyside giants is waiting to land his first major role as a manager and that could come north of the border.

If the 37-year-old did replace Murty, it could set up an Old Firm battle with Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, who was Gerrard's manager as Liverpool came agonisingly close to winning the Premier League title during the 2013-14 campaign.
