Mario Gomez claims that the Germans deserved to beat Greece at Euro 2012.

Germany striker Mario Gomez has said that his side deserved to beat Greece to reach the semi-finals at Euro 2012.

Gomez, who began the game on the bench for the first time at the tournament so far, saw Miroslav Klose start in his place.

However, Gomez insists that he and his teammates knew that the win was within their grasp, regardless.

"We knew that Greece were the masters of survival, but I think we deserved to win," he told ZDF.

"We knew, if we got our game together, we would cause Greece difficulties and that's how it went. Now we will watch and see who comes next."

The Germans will now face either the Italians or the English in the semi-finals.
