FIFA are investigating England's match with Montenegro following reports of bad behaviour from the home fans.

FIFA are gathering information that could lead to disciplinary action against Montenegro for the behaviour of their fans during their World Cup qualifying draw with England on Tuesday.

Reports surfaced recently claiming that Ashley Cole was spat at during the game, while Joe Hart was bombarded with objects from the crowd throughout the 1-1 draw between the two sides in a hostile Podgorica.

However, much of the investigation hinges on the report from referee Jonas Eriksson, although sanctions are a possibility.

"We are still collecting all the post-match reports since the officials have got 24 hours to send them," a FIFA spokesman told The Telegraph.

"Based on the mentioned reports, FIFA will proceed accordingly."

Wayne Rooney received a mixed reception on his return to the stadium, having been sent off during his previous visit.
