England squad forced to spend extra night in Italy as plane is grounded

England remain in Turin for an extra night after their flight home is grounded due to technical issues.

The England squad have been forced to spend an additional night in Italy after technical issues grounded their flight home.

In a move that could affect a number of Premier League clubs, the national team's return journey has been rescheduled for mid-morning on Wednesday.

"England team to stay extra night in Turin after technical issue to their plane means they will fly home tomorrow mid-morning," read a tweet from the official England account.

England's friendly with Italy in Turin finished 1-1, with Southampton's Graziano Pelle opening the scoring for the hosts and Andros Townsend of Tottenham Hotspur netting a late equaliser for the Three Lions.
