Jose Mourinho slams Chelsea's recent style of play

Jose Mourinho insists that Chelsea's style of football in the last few seasons has not been good enough.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that Chelsea's style of football over the last few years has not been good enough.

Mourinho said that his plan for the season is to develop his style of play by using the type of player that he enjoys watching.

"I don't like the way Chelsea were playing the last couple of years; the club doesn't like it and we want to change," BBC Sport quotes Mourinho as saying. "We want to play a different style. The past is history - even my past. I'm here like I've just arrived.

"People were asking if I wanted Didier [Drogba] here but that's history and we need to change. I agree we must have better results and we are not the kind of club who will wait three to five years for that to happen. We want them to play in a certain way now."

Chelsea are sixth in the Premier League with seven points from a possible 12.
