Guus Hiddink: 'Draws not enough for Chelsea'

Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink admits that his side must start turning draws into wins if they are to make a late bid for a Champions League place.

Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink has admitted that his side are drawing too many games in the Premier League.

Sunday's 1-1 draw with Manchester United was the sixth in nine games under Hiddink, and although they remain unbeaten since the middle of December, they sit 17 points behind fourth-placed Manchester City.

Hiddink has suggested that the club are still targeting a Champions League spot, but acknowledges that they cannot afford to drop many more points in their final 13 games.

The Dutchman is quoted by the club's official website as saying: "I said before when we were one point away from the relegation zone our target must still be fourth but I also said we have to start winning.

"Of course we are unbeaten but if you want to get into fourth place you must have victories and we've had too many draws. Mathematically it might be possible but we must start winning again."

Chelsea are next in action on February 13 when they host Newcastle United.
