Manager Roberto Di Matteo has said that every one of his players must perform at the peak of their ability if Chelsea are to overcome Shakhtar Donetsk tonight.

The Blues lost 2-1 in Donetsk last month and Di Matteo knows that his team cannot afford to suffer a similar result at Stamford Bridge.

"This is a must-win match for us and we need a perfect game against Shakhtar," he said.

"Every individual player on the pitch has to perform at the highest of their ability. We have to win our remaining two home games against Shakhtar and against Nordsjaelland.

"If we do that our destiny is back in our own hands and that's what we want."

If Chelsea fail to defeat Shakhtar it is likely that they will need to beat Nordsjaelland at home and Juventus away in order to qualify from Group E.

Never in the history of the Champions League have the reigning champions failed to reach the knockout stages.
