Robbie Keane has joined up with Aston Villa for training today and is expected to finalise a loan move to the Midlands within the next 24 hours.
It emerged last week that the Los Angeles Galaxy striker was of interest to the Premier League side, who are believed to have offered a two-month loan deal, similar to that of Arsenal loanee Thierry Henry.
Villa boss Alex McLeish has been vocal about his desire to land the 31-year-old. However, the temporary capture of the former Tottenham Hotspur frontman could put doubts in the mind of Darren Bent, who has been linked with a move away from the club.
Keane will stay with the Midlands side in order to keep up his fitness in preparation for the new MLS season in America.
