Arsenal's Santi Cazorla 'wanted by former club Villarreal'

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla emerges as a transfer target for former club Villarreal.

Arsenal's Santi Cazorla has reportedly emerged as a summer transfer target for former club Villarreal.

The Spanish outfit will make a move for the midfielder if he can prove that he has returned to full match fitness following a lengthy spell on the sidelines, according to AS.

Cazorla has been out for 18 months, during which time he has been forced to undergo 11 operations due to serious problems with his Achilles tendon.

The Spaniard, who played for Villarreal between 2003 and 2006, is out of contract at the Emirates Stadium this summer.

The 33-year-old has claimed that his injury problems are now behind him, but he is yet to return to action.
